Good people penny's is a rock star
Took nephews there, was our first time at any type of fish farm. We were not disappointed.
My 7 yr old nephew has ADD and hates waiting around river fishing, now he loves fishing again.
I would recommend this to everyone, there's no staff watching you so you don't feel like you're under a microscope either.
An elderly customer did come over to pretend to chitchat with us but it was obvious he came to check our bucket, as if we couldn't afford it. People really need to mind their own business. If the staff doesn't care, you don't need to care. And if I don't look presentable, it's because I'm fishing, it's 95 degrees, and don't want to mess up good clothes. Yes, he was dressed like he was ready to golf and would probably have a heart attack if pond water ruined his JC Penny slacks. -- This has no impact on my view of Rushing Waters though, Great place!
My wife and I loved the late lunch of trout dinner it was great staff awesome and took home extra takeout.
I went here for a Wisconsin Foodie event and learned so much about this fishery! There's a fishing pond that you can get your rainbow trout and they'll clean and cook it for you. All you have to choose is your potato. On top of that, this fishery keeps its waste to a minimum. All fantastic. They have a small grocery so you can even get your seafood to go with drinks, sides and even snacks.
Clio went with 6 friends for a hook and cook. They each had their own rods, totally necessary with this group (if you go with kids-sharing OK), and caught 4 "beautiful trout." The 3 w/o fish, no problem, all 7 intended to order off the menu at The Trout House restaurant. Those who caught, took home their trout, perfectly filleted and packed on ice by the staff at only $8.75/lb (and probably being shared with their significant other as I type this), good idea. Cost for trout shore lunch with your caught fish $11, fish provided by Trout House for same meal $14. Too bad Clio caught zero (none for me.)
Clio said staff was great getting them equipped for the pond, restaurant server excellent - lunch served hot, great fresh green beans, even provided separate checks and filled water glasses! Apparently, over and over. Seven stars for the experience
My own notes, this is a well run trout FARM, not a wild river fly fishing adventure. Great experience.
