Lovely place located in a nice wooded residential area. There was live music when I was there waiting for my food and everyone was into it. In the bar area there was a fireplace that kept the room toasty. The low light created a welcoming comfortable feeling. The service was great, the bartenders kept checking on the status of my food. We had the beer battered walleye fish fry and the 2-piece cod with potato pancakes. The walleye filets were large and absolutely delicious! They were the best in the area. The cod was great too and so were the potato pancakes. The only issues we had was the clam chowder was very watery and flavorless. We don't like a lot of sodium and like the natural flavors of food but we had to put some salt and pepper in the clam chowder. The fries I had with my walleye were very basic fries. You can get the same fries from the frozen food section of any grocery store. All-in-all, I would gladly come back but won't get the clam chowder or french fries.
Beautifully restored historic resort on Big Cedar Lake. Both the interior and exterior are charming and welcoming. Absolutely a treasure.
The service here is top notch. From the hostess to the waitress and the bartender's. Everyone is friendly and knowledgeable. I had the filet mignon and it was cooked to perfection. My husband had the seared walleye, and he said it was excellent. This restaurant has great ambience as well. A huge fireplace with lanterns that are candlelit. A great experience!
An excellent dining experience. Love the atmosphere. We were there on a Friday and had the fish fry and it was very good. You need to make reservations or get there early though. It gets very busy very fast. Service was outstanding. They have indoor and outdoor seating with lake views. Side of the road parking. But it's worth the slight walk. Other patrons are friendly. Very easy to strike up a conversation. We had walked around down by the lake. People were also coming in from their boats. It was a nice drive out there. I will definitely be going back
My husband and I had a wonderful dinner last night at Timmer’s for an impromptu date night. We enjoyed the patio’s beautiful view of Big Cedar Lake and resort grounds. The patio was quite busy but service was spot on. The chef’s special Panzanella salad was fantastic and a perfect starter to our meal. My husband added
a chicken breast to his and it was actually cooked very well-not dried out/overcooked one bit. We had the mussels appetizer (as an entree) and another chef’s special of seafood scampi for our dinner entrees-both were fantastic! The seafood was cooked perfectly. So often one finds over cooked seafood, especially in a blended seafood dish such as this seafood scampi, but the scallops, shrimp and lobster were all cooked to perfection! We enjoyed an after dinner drink at the bar and the bartenders were very attentive and friendly. We can’t wait to go back again. The weekly specials posted on Facebook have looked amazing and brought us in last night and I am sure they will bring us back in again very soon!
