(September 20, 2018, 7:01 pm)The Japanese gateway and landscape are rather picturesque and in the morning when the gardens are relatively quiet this is a spot that invites contemplation. If carefully arranged gravel raked into swirls isn’t your thing, the mound on which the ornamental gateway stands presents a neat, formal landscape with Japanese azaleas and other shrubs that offer splashes of strong colour in a subtle setting.
