this school is incredible and should be a place where you can send your kid to school. the teachers here are extremely supportive and will help you with anything you ask for. the teachers know how to handle the difficult kids and make them feel included with the rest of the class in their every day work. the montessori system here is extremely different then any other public charter in Oakland and is 100% unique. the kids here are also very kind and are mostly supportive. there is always the small handful of difficult kids that can be hard to be around, but by the time i got to 8th grade, those difficult kids became some of my really good friends! this school still has some difficulties ad always will but nothing is perfect, but something can be really good. Urban montessori Charter School is really good. DEFINATLY consider sending your kids to this school. the other bad reviews on here were made by some of my friends as a joke and are not true at all. I say friends because everyone here is friends. there isnt really a popularity level in urban, sure there are kids that everyone knows but those kids dont really act popular. I dont really like to say this but i am one of the kids there that at any other school would be considerd "popular" but i dont treat other people like i am a "popular" kid. nobody who is "popular" does. we welcome everyone as equal and help everyone no matter race, age, height, gender, disabillaties, etc. everyone here is equal and very good freinds
Love this school my daughter been here since they opened. A lot diversity and independent studies. It has been a lot of help to my daughter. Love the teachers and staff are very welcoming.
I go their it's amzing
My daughter has attended UMCS for two years and she comes home bursting with joy every single day. I have worked as a teacher and educational psychologist for the past 18 years and her classroom with Mr. Bill and Ms. Tiara is the best class I have ever seen. She is learning the skills that will help her succeed in life and contribute positively to her community. This is the kind of school that will change the world: fully inclusive, inspiring, and socio economically as well as racially diverse.
