Cielito Lindo

Classic and a must when in DTLA, Olvera Street has many places to choose from, but this is always my go-to. The prices are affordable, they fry the taquitos fresh, and the more green sauce, the better. This is a historic spot with limited seating, but it doesn't matter because the local market makes you want to walk around while eating.

These taquitos are amazing. Remind me a tiny bit of El Paso’s chicos tacos. Ordered 2 just to try them and back in line for more. Get the taquitos that have rice and beans. The rice is really good. The champúrado was amazing and hot.

Cielito Lindo is the corner restaurant on Olvera Street and is the most famous among any of the Mexican restaurants on the block. This place is famous for their toquitos which do not disappoint. I got the #4 which is three toquitos plus beans and rice. I would say that was the best thing we got. I would come back for that. We also got the Colorado burrito as well as a bean and cheese burrito. Both were okay but not as good as some others you could find on Olvera Street. Overall I’d say, go for the toquitos for sure. If you want a big meal I’d say use this as an appetizer to hold you over until you find something else.

This Olvera Street staple has been churning out the best taquitos in LA since 1934. I got the combo #4 three taquitos with rice & beans $10. It was ready in just a few minutes and they have a small dining area as well as benches outside. There was a small line but it moved quickly. Service is friendly and they have frozen taquitos to take home as well. Parking is limited but metro train access at Union Station is a short walk away.

I have never had taquito before so I don't really have a standard to compare against. The deep fried tortilla is only a little crunchy since it has soaked up the sauce. The sauce is pretty good; you can taste a hint of pepper but it is not spicy at all, and it is a little sour. This place is pretty popular and is located on the Olvera street with a lot of Mexican stalls.
