Galbo Design Plinius Audio Repairs is now owned by Ralph Abramo. Ralph is one of the smartest and most honest audio repair person I have ever entrusted my audio equipment to. Plinius NZ recommended Ralph based on several issues I was having with a used Hiato purchase (volume control bleeding static through, loose boards, bad capacitor). Ralph has chosen to focus solely on Plinius and he knows how to troubleshoot and repair everything Plinius down to an individual resistor or capacitor. He is reliable - your unit will unquestionably be repaired when he returns it. For those looking to upgrade or recap an older unit, Ralph can provide real world insight and costs to take your unit back to original or upgrade. Prince of a gentleman and I would not hesitate to contact him if you are looking to buy, modify or repair a Plinius unit. I was extremely pleased with my interactions with Ralph and continue to stay in touch with occasional questions I have about the unit. Highest recommendation!
I was fortunate enough to meet Ralph when I dropped off my Plinius SM-100 mark 3 for modification. The Galbo modification is worth every penny, my amp after 3 weeks of use has transformed into something special. Highs are fully extended with more seperation of instruments and timber. One Iggy Pop's song Angry Hills Iggy's voice is fully extended as he gives out a guttural wake with no restraint. The low end is tighter and rounded. The Galbo mods have also increased the low level detail which was one of the stock models strengths. On Rod Stewart's cover of Angel by Jimi Hendrix I can now hear bells in the bridge of the song I hadn\'t heard before. For me though the thing that has made the investment worth it is I ran the amp through my pre amp (Adcom 750 modified by Musical Concepts) in passive mode because there was a harshness in the upper frequencies but now with the Galbo Mod it's gone and there now is a synergy between both pieces. I highly reccomend The Galbo Modifications for your Plinius gear. Ralph is a great guy and he will get everything out of you Plinius gear. The SM 100 is a great amp stock but with the mods it can become exceptional worthy to stand among Krell,Threshold and other Class A bias stalworths
