"Emory Cranston" whom felt it was necessary to leave a cry baby review for others not wearing a mask outside... Stay at home if your so scared.. we live in the land of the free America! Others like myself need clean crisp fresh air when outside enjoying what the good lord has created! Also we loved the trail never felt better after we got done hiking this beauty!
Super steep hill climb up to Pancake, but well worth it. Plan on 2 hours up and a 20 picnic at the top. Lots of aspens and a great view.
Amazing hike! Not hard by any means but had great views and had a creek and pond. Limited parking spots but I didn't have any problem finding a place. Was not busy at all on a Thursday afternoon.
Great hike but a definite challenge. Plan on the first two miles of the 6.9 mile round trip hike to Pancake Rocks to be incline and switchbacks. You get glimpses of Sentinel Point between the towering pines. Once you Crest the toughest part of the hike it becomes more gentle walking. From here more and more rock spires leap out from the mountainside. Once you think you have gone the wrong direction the trail ends in the Pancake Rock formations. From here you get stunning vistas of the rocky ridge above treeline that is the backdoor to Sentinel Point. You are also graced by views of the wide alpine valley below in which Hwy 67 and Colorado 81 split. I would highly suggest that you use trekking poles on this hike given the loose scree can be very hazardous.
There is decent parking here. It's on the side of the road and fills up eventually so earlier the better. However, I've never had an issue the 3 times I've gone. Great hike, good amount of climbing the first mile to the trail splits.
