It’s an amazing trail, with minimal obsticals, yet 7 miles is no small feat, there are places of questionable direction of path but I made my way just fine. I would allow 4.5 hours hike time so be prepared, I went in a little to late, and had to use my cell phone flash light to finish the last mile and a half, but regardless it is a beautiful trail and I will hike it again!
This is my favorite trail in Volusia County! Recommend wearing bugspray because the deeper parts of the trail have more bugs. Love the boardwalks and gorgeous scenery. Spring and fall are the best times of year for this trail.
We hiked the larger loop which is about 7miles. It was kind of confusing when you get to the back part but with the help of some hiking apps and Google maps we found our way.
The trail was wet for about 20% of the hike on 1/6/19. We hopped around a bit and didn't get wet.
Best part of the trail was how shadded it was, about 95% we were in the shade.
I will always love this trial. It's well marked as travels through various types of habitat. If it's been raining, expect much water on the trail. Wear water proof boots
Under used but well kept 8 mile loop trail. The river side of the loop is the more scenic part of the trail. The pines side is more flat/level. Lots of boardwalks over the soft spots. Two river views at the far end.
