These Arepas are absolute GAS. The comment under me is moronic. There's literally no other place that sells Arepas in the area. They're big and stuffed huge! The empanadas are good too. Definitely a place I will be coming back to weekly!
Small place in Mt. Dora shopping strip. 100% worth a visit. The chicken Empanadas are fantastic... but the arepas are truly incredible. The pork and the chicken are my personal favorites, but you can't go wrong with any of them! They are so flavorful and juicy! Don't miss out! This place is amazing!
If you are looking for a unique cuisine to satisfy your craving then look no further, Melo is the spot to check out. This restaurant was referred to me through my best friend and I quickly fell in love with a menu that offers variety of authentic Colombian stuffed arepas and even arepa specials in addition to Colombian smash burgers. So much so, I ordered every arepa off the menu. My go to arepa is the 3 meat stuffed arepa (Chicken, pork, and steak) well seasoned, flavorful and the pairing of the sauces is top notch! Garlic sauce is a must and to quench your thirst the passion fruit juice is refreshing even by itself when you’re on the run or with any menu item. Lastly, the passionfruit cheesecake is a must try! Overall the atmosphere is inviting and the service is quick with authentic quality. Ill be sure to come by here again and again.
We went twice. Our first experience was during the craft festival. The item we wanted was sold out - not a problem, we found an alternative, which was very good. The downside: they totally dropped our order. We waited over 30 mins for two arepas and watched people who ordered after us get served their food. It seems that the young counter helpers were inexperienced.
Our second visit saw a big improvement on the service. The owner greeted us and was very friendly and welcoming. Our guanabana juice hit the spot. We ordered the item that was sold out on our first visit, the chicken arepa with cheese. I prefer the beef arepa.
Overall, it's a decent place with decent food. I'd certainly go back again when I'm in the mood for another arepa.
This is a literal hole in the wall, stuck in a small corner of an indoor marketplace at Mt. Dora. I discovered Melo while eating outdoors, and smelling the food being cooked through their tiny window. I was determined to try it!
I bought the chicken arepa which was made fresh to order and took about 10-15 minutes to make. The chicken was shredded and tender, soaked with delicious sauce and topped with fresh Columbian cheese. Besides it smelling and tasting wonderful, it was also a lot larger than I expected!
