They were very busy when we called (didn't have a reservation) but Candy went above and beyond in accommodating us with a nice table in a cozy corner in the bar area when we arrived. She was great with her assistance over the phone and just as warm and helpful when we arrived after a delayed Uber ride. Our waitress Sherri was wonderful as well, the menu has a delicious variety of items and a unique cheese plate as an appetizer which we really enjoyed. Definitely going back soon!

(February 16, 2019, 11:22 am)What an unexpected gem! We had dinner there last night - and everything was excellent. The atmosphere was relaxed yet fun - with beautiful artwork everywhere. The staff was on point - always at service without being overbearing. And the food - well, we had the prix fixe, and it was high art in addition to being delicious. We’ll have to go back, since we couldn’t order every item we had our eyes on. Well deserving of five stars - thank you for making our date night special!

Their use use of spices and herbs provide a pleasant taste experience every time. The setting is rich and our waiter is beyond the best. His name is Brad and extremely dedicated to making sure your experience is worth your money.

(December 23, 2018, 9:03 pm)The Milk Buns! The sorbet! The mains! Almost everything is a masterpiece from start to finish. I wouldn't order the burger because it's nothing wow (a burger is a burger is a burger) and the menu changes depending on what's in season, but you can count on learning something new about how food cycles work and enjoy every minute of it. Plus they have a super dope aesthetic that makes it a treat for all your senses.

Having said that, knowing him for so long, he is held to a higher standard and 1921 exceeds expectations.
Mt Dora is closer than you think and well worth the drive. The town is beautiful and welcoming. 1921 and the modernist museum in Mt Dora share an owner, therefore a decor of fabulous art pieces in glass, acrylics, and mixed media are throughout the restaurant. You first enter through a courtyard into a large open kitchen and small dining area. You can also choose to dine in the bar or the large main dining room. Table tops are natural slabs of wood and chairs are of modern design also.
Staff is well trained and attentive. One of the head servers, Brad, took care of our party. Wine presentation and service is a staple here, not an afterthought. Exceptional service, presentation and execution.
Food is on point with any central Florida restaurant that you would pay triple the price. Selections are fresh, local, thoughtfully designed and well executed.
Overall experience was welcoming, casual and felt natural. Can't wait to return for another great experience!
