Wow! Such a Beautiful place can't wait to go back. So peaceful soamy benches to sit on and just take it all in on the trail behind the welcome center. Great play ground for kids too. Clean bathrooms and picnic tables for lunch or dinner. The grounds are beautiful. There is boat rentals and a beach. The pavilions they have for rent at the beach are beautiful! If you need to just get outside this is a great place to go.
Fantastic park a stones throw away from Atlanta. Had a memorable trail run full of beautiful views and dips in a very clear lake. The water temp was perfect in early August. I felt like I was deep in the mountains no where near the hustle and bustle of the city. Great place to swim, run, hike, camp. I plan to come back frequently
The most gorgeous campground that we have stayed so far. Hiking and one mountain bike trail. The lake is beautiful and the water is clear. The scenery is amazing. We will be back! Bring your toys, MTB and paddle boards if you have and you will really enjoy this place!
I’ve been a few times now to this state park for different trails and really enjoy it. I recently did the homestead trail. Most of the trail is very well kept with not too steep of an incline until you get near the middle of the loop portion.
The only part of the trail I would mention as a bit difficult is the rocks on the SW side of the loop which might make it harder on someone who has knee or foot issues. I would recommend at least a hiking pole for this portion of the trail.
Overall, I enjoyed this as my first hike on the homestead trail and the views of the lake on the north side loop are a great place to take a rest.
Great park for beginner hikers or children. There's a small paved loop that would be good for wheelchair users or strollers, but the actual hiking is a little bumpier. Still a very easy hike even for a toddler.
Beautiful views from the rocks at the lake. Take a picnic and enjoy the view! Lots of easy parking. $5 entry or free with GA state parks pass.
