  Great park for a good and healthy walk in the nature, trails are nice in summer of course, and winter as well.

  Peaceful walk on a cool fall morning...saw a deer and plenty of squirrels

  Nce trail with two 1-mile interconnected trails (easy 2 mile walk). Mostly flat. Crushed rock path (muddy when wet). 80% of the park is shaded with either oak or pine trees. Some park benches for resting and a nice bird observation area (also with benches and 2 industrial binoculars). Pets welcome (on a leash). Outhouse, picnic tables, and a well pump are located by the parking lot.

  Nice short trail of around 2.5 miles. Less crowded usually. An hour and a half away from Chicago. When inside, it takes 45 minutes to 1hr 20 min to complete the walk depending on your speed.
  
  Good for short trips or can be one of the items in your checklist. No place to camp though.
  
  Just stop by on your road trip and hike for either a mile or two depending on your liking - there are two loops.
  
  Had fun with the handpump installed to get underground water. Saw two deers too. Restrooms available.

  This was a fun hang out spot for teenagers twenty years ago and before. Now they filled it with well maintained paths, bird sanctuaries and viewing, they connected it to more paths and blocks off all the swampy ground. I will admit I miss wandering through the natural wooded environment but I'm older now and the tails are easier.
