The Japanese classes are awesome, and I am learning so much
Their Japanese language classes are quite affordable compared to other places I have seen plus unlike other programs and classes that only go partially through a book, they go all the way through the assigned book they ask you to buy and there's even time to supplement it with videos and ask teachers about specific nuances in the language and culture. The only thing I ask of them is that they continue to provide online classes even after the pandemic because I moved away from New York City and the online classes have helped me tremendously with being more comfortable speaking Japanese. I would have never had this opportunity in person, even though I went to college right next door to them for 4 years, it was only through the appeal of online classes that I finally signed up and I am seriously grateful for the Tenri Institute for that chance. I do wish I could have peeked inside at least once during the time I was in college in NYC, but I'm glad I got to know what they did through the online classes anyways.
My daughter loves the Japanese classes they offer. She says she "only wants to go to Japanese school, not English school." The staff is friendly. The teacher we have is great. I'm contemplating their adult classes since the kids classes are so good.
Amazing place, wonderful people, great gallery program
Very neat spot with some unique art installations! Happened to be walking by and decided to pop in for a bit and was glad I did.
Personally, I was a bit confused by where to enter, but if you're on the outside looking at the large window, go in through the door on the right and up through the next door to get into the gallery.
It's worth checking out if you're in the area and looking for something to do.
