Fields Ranch

Congratulations Fields Ranch, the PGA and Kitchen Aid. The Sr PGA Championship is a terrific event - well organized, accommodating, and friendly. You definitely need to add some large shade trees on the course before the 2027 PGA Championship, especially as you get far from the clubhouse on each nine. It will help the spectators.

Amazingly well conditioned, fun layout, and well thought through.

Right up there with the best of the best in Dallas. Hard to top Dallas National though.

Greens were firm, fast and difficult to read. The superintendent on the West course has done an incredible job thus far.

The fairways are huge and bunkers are well placed.

We played the III Tees (6,500 yards) and there were two Par 4s under 300. The opening Par 5 and closing Par 5 17th and 18th made it fun.

There wasn’t really an iconic hole, but there didn’t need to be. It was really solid all around.

Still working through the “we are new to this” type of problems. I showed up an hour before my tee time and wasn’t able to putt before my round as they were watering one putting green and fertilizing the other (the massive one everyone is talking about). The cart GPS was set to the wrong pin location on every hole.

All in about $340 per person including tax and cart to play on a Friday morning. $16 (pre-tip) for two Gatorades from the cart girl. Feels steep, but a cool experience overall.

I bet if you wait a few months it will be A+.

West Course - 5/3/23

Amenities:
Top notch, as good as it gets. Clubhouse and restaurant are really nice. Top Tracer technology on the range. One of the best short game/practice areas I have ever seen.

Service:
Same. Fantastic service and extremely friendly staff.

Course Condition/Layout:
The course is extremely nice, some of the best fairways/greens in the entire metroplex (including private clubs). The fairways are comparable with Trinity Forest, which I think are the best in the metroplex. The greens weren't super fast but they are absolutely perfect.

Pace of Play:
The course wasn't very crowded and we played in a little over 4 hours. They marshall it well, I don't think pace will be an issue when this course starts getting crowded.

Pricing:
I checked 5 stars since there is an option for 4.5. The reason I would say 4.5 is the pricing. The green fee was $270, which is a little steep in my opinion. With that said I would play it again. The biggest issue I had was the $80 golf cart rental fee. In all the years I have been playing golf I have never seen an $80 golf cart rental fee. Drinks and food on the course are extremely expensive, 20% gratuity included in all transactions. I ordered 2 beers and 2 hot dogs in the "food shack" on the course and it was $40.

Opening day - looks great. Everything is in perfect condition.

Driving range is not open to the public. It's reserved for staff members, coaching/training and 18-hole course players.
