First of all, my guide's name was Laird, and he did an outstanding job of providing flora and fauna information as well as history. I've done a few state-park guided tours, and this was the best one thus far.

Well worth making the reservation to do this tour. Guadalupe River SP is nice, but Honey Creek is the best part of the area IMO. Highly recommend the tour.

Just sneak in from Guadulpe state park and walk there. Careful for rattlesnakes in the grassy areas on the way.

Honey Creek State Natural Area is not for everyone, me included. Not only do you need a reservation but tours are only offered on Saturdays and fill up quickly. The natural area is within Guadalupe River State Park so make sure you get a pass here as well. I would have preferred to take this hike myself instead of with 10 others who stopped to ask questions every hundred yards. It is pretty but not part of the park I’d need to visit again.

Honey Creek SNA is in Comal County Texas and is rather pristine, compared to much of the area. People are not in it very often. A karst area, with caves, sinks, and springs, with abundant animals and plants, and varying habitats. Guided interpretive walks can be found on TPWDs website. Go.

Guided hike every Saturday morning. Along the hike to the creek, the guides talked about the history of the area, geology, fossils and animal life. The short time we spent at the creek was beautiful and peaceful; definitely worth the hike.
